‘The White Lotus’ Has New Theme Music. Fans Are Angry.
What happened to all the weird wailing?

HBO
The White Lotus changed its iconic theme song for Season 3—and fans are not having it.
On Sunday night, millions of viewers eagerly gathered in front of their TVs, ready to dive into the latest chapter of HBO’s White Lotus, one of the most buzzed-about premieres of 2025.
But as the opening credits began to play, what greeted fans wasn’t the familiar mix of delirious vocals, orgasmic grunting, and the hardest beat drop to ever grace television, but something different, much different. And the internet erupted almost immediately.

“Anyone else devastated by the White Lotus S3 intro music?” One fan asked on X. “omg YES!” replied another.

“Not to be dramatic but the new theme song has quite literally ruined my whole weekend,” one fan complained on the White Lotus subreddit.
While it’s not the first time composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer has reimagined the show’s iconic intro music for a new season, this marks the most drastic departure yet. In place of the tropical vibes of Season 1’s “Aloha” or the operatic grandeur of Season 2’s “Renaissance,” Veer opted to replace the vocals in Season 3’s “Enlightenment,” with a hauntingly melancholic accordion—a choice that has some fans particularly upset.
“Where are the LOOLOOLOOLOOLOOOOLOOOOOS?” One outraged YouTube commenter wrote.
“Aw man… where’s the “woooo, woo ooh ooooooh, wooo ooo ooo ooooooh?” another commenter asked.
However, not all reactions have been negative. A number of viewers are even embracing the shift, with some even praising Veer for moving away from the upbeat, almost clubbing atmosphere of the first two seasons.
“I don’t get the hate,” one commenter wrote. “Yes, it’s not the same as S1 and S2, but I love the change in this one. It feels darker and more sinister.”
While it’s clear that the theme song switch has stirred up some strong opinions, it’s still too early to tell whether fans will come around to the new sound or continue to hate the change. Either way, White Lotus has done what it does best—spark conversation. And in the world of White Lotus, that’s always a win.
