Haley Questions if Trump Is ‘Mentally Fit’ After He Confused Her With Pelosi

“Why didn’t I handle Jan. 6 better? I wasn’t even in D.C. on Jan. 6. I wasn’t in office then,” Nikki Haley said in response to Trump’s attack.

Nikki Haley called Donald Trump’s mental competency into question after he seemingly mixed her up with Rep. Nancy Pelosi when talking about the Jan. 6 riot, in New Hampshire on Friday.

“Nikki Haley, you know they, do you know they destroyed all of the information, all of the evidence, everything, deleted and destroyed all of it. All of it because of lots of things like Nikki Haley is in charge of security. We offered her 10,000 people, soldiers, National Guard, whatever they want. They turned it down. They don’t want to talk about that. These are very dishonest people,” Trump said.

Trump appeared to be referring to Pelosi whom he has falsely accused of turning down his offer of deploying 10,000 soldiers on Jan. 6.

Responding to the gaffe in Keene, New Hampshire, Saturday, Haley called into question whether 77-year-old Trump and President Joe Biden, 81, were really the best options to lead the country.

“We see that [President Joe] Biden has changed so much in two years,” Haley said. “But last night Trump is at a rally and he’s going on and on mentioning me multiple times as to why I didn’t take security during the Capitol riots. Why didn’t I handle Jan. 6 better? I wasn’t even in D.C. on Jan. 6. I wasn’t in office then.”

“They’re saying he got confused, that he was talking about something else, he’s talking about Nancy Pelosi,” she continued. “He mentioned me multiple times in that scenario. The concern I have is—I’m not saying anything derogatory—but when you’re dealing with the pressures of the presidency, we can’t have someone else that we question whether they’re mentally fit to do this. We can’t.”

The final Jan. 6 committee report debunked Trump’s claim about Pelosi.

“Some have suggested that President Trump gave an order to have 10,000 troops ready for January 6th. The Select Committee found no evidence of this. In fact, President Trump’s Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller directly refuted this when he testified under oath,” the committee found.

Chief Trump defender Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) pushed back on Haley’s comments.

“The reality is Nikki Haley is relying on Democrats, just like Nancy Pelosi, to try to have a desperate showing,” she said.

Trump’s confusion comes as he regularly targets President Joe Biden for a series of gaffes, claiming that he is not mentally competent for office.

However, Trump has confused Biden with former President Barack Obama on a number of occasions. In September, he said ‘with Obama, we won an election that everyone said couldn’t be won.”

In that same speech he said “we would be in World War II very quickly if we’re going to be relying on” Biden.
