This Democratic Senator Is Finding Control Amid the Chaos—at The Container Store

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar is trying to clean house, both at home and in Congress.

After a particular contentious round of Senate hearings for nominees in President Donald Trump’s new administration, Senator Amy Klobuchar found herself in a Container Store while on a break back in her home state, Minnesota. She was on the hunt for baskets to organize her coffee and tea collection—and, in retrospoect, the broader sense of satisfaction that comes with things being the way they’re supposed to be.

At the store, a stranger approached her, Klobuchar recounted during this week’s episode of The Daily Beast Podcast: “‘I know why you’re here, Amy Klobuchar,' they said. ‘You are living in a world that feels out of control, and you’re trying to assert some control over it at the Container Store.‘”

I mean, we’ve all been there!?

“The place I feel safest is where (there are) little boxes I can put pencils and lipsticks into,” Bee concurred. Coles added that any sense of structure and organization is the “perfect antidote to the ‘bro performance art’ we’re living through.”

As Klobuchar fights to block controversial nominees like Kash Patel, Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr., she, like many Americans, is searching for a fleeting sense of calm—and coming up short. “This isn’t business as usual,” she explained. “This isn’t just one person you disagree with in a debate. This is a complete constitutional power grab.”

Klobuchar highlighted economic concerns: “Donald Trump has not brought down costs for the American people. Instead, what do we see? Chaos going up. Corruption going up. Egg prices going up.” And amid growing political uncertainty—and growing authority granted to unelected power players like Elon Musk and his “broligarchs”—Klobuchar emphasized the need for action. “People have to wake up from their anger, slumber, frustrations—whatever—and get out there.”

Her takeaway? The Democratic Party must contain the damage and restore order—even if that means starting with a well-organized condiments shelf.
