The Daily Beast Nominated for 15 National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards From the L.A. Press Club

Senior editor and writer Tim Teeman raked in nine nominations, including for online journalist of the year.

The Daily Beast scored 15 nominations from the Los Angeles Press Club for their 2019 National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Senior editor and writer Tim Teeman raked in a majority of the nominations (nine), including for online journalist of the year. Among his many recognized pieces were a candid interview with Daniel Libeskind about Auschwitz and memory, his theater reviews, his remembrance of Doris Day, his exclusive profile of Dexter actor Michael C. Hall, in which Hall revealed his “fluid sexuality,” and his interviews with 80 LGBTQ celebrities to mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

Writers Amy Zimmerman and Kevin Fallon were also honored with multiple nominations for their work—Zimmerman for this piece about what Melissa Schuman endured after she accused Nick Carter of rape, and another about how the Church of Scientology went after women who accused Danny Masterson of rape. Fallon was nominated for his piece about Celine Dion in Las Vegas, and another about Michael Jackson truthers. Senior entertainment editor Marlow Stern was nominated for this interview with Dr. Ruth, and reporter Tarpley Hitt for an article about Nicholas Sparks' attempts to ban an LGBT club at his Christian school.

The awards will be presented on December 1 at a ceremony at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.
