RFK Jr. Vows Not to Go After ‘Boss’ Trump’s McDonalds and Diet Coke

Trump’s favorite foods are safe under Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s leadership, he insisted Wednesday.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. insisted Wednesday that—despite his own reservations with the items—he will not seek to ban or limit American’s access to things like McDonald’s or Diet Coke if he becomes health secretary. After all, he noted it is those exact things that his “boss” Donald Trump likes the most. So much so, the president has a special button in the Oval Office that will hail a Diet Coke from a staffer and he appeared to order McDonald’s throughout his campaign, including at his New York hush money trial and at a college football game. “I don’t want to take food away from anybody,” Kennedy told senators at his confirmation hearing. “If you like a McDonald’s cheeseburger, Diet Coke, which my boss loves, you should be able to get them. If you want to eat a Hostess Twinkie, you should be able to do that, but you should know what the impacts are.” Kennedy is famously a health nut, who, even at 71, works out regularly and poses shirtless for social media. He has vowed to “Make America Healthy Again” by reining in processed foods but apparently has toned down his stance on them. He indicated Wednesday he now simply hopes to raise awareness to just how unhealthy junk food is—not ban it.
