The White House is still reeling after a staggering security blunder that saw a journalist being accidentally added to a group chat in which top Trump administration officials discuss secret U.S. military plans.

Jeffery Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, was inadvertently added to the “Houthi PC small group” on Signal—a commercial messaging app—whose members included Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

The government has been desperate to downplay the severity of the incident, with President Donald Trump praising Waltz as a “good man” who “learned a lesson” and multiple officials dismissing the leaked messages, claiming they do not contain any classified information.

But their attempts at damage control appear to have backfired, as The Atlantic called their bluff and published the chat logs in full on Wednesday morning, with Goldberg imploring readers to decide for themselves just how “classified” the information really is.
