“Frankly, I’m just on a high from how much fun we had,” Andy Cohen said.

Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen rang in the New Year for the eighth year in a row on their popular CNN broadcast Tuesday night. After hours of performances, interviews and a lookalike contest, the pair shared their highlights of the night in an interview with the New York Times.
Cooper and Cohen both had the same favorite moment of the night—actor Ralph Fiennes’ bizarre monologue about the “demure” meme.
“I just lost it; I thought it was so funny,” Cooper said.
Both hosts said they also enjoyed making fun of each other, which happened frequently during the broadcast with an ironic lookalike contest and constant references to Cohen’s bad dancing at a concert.
Their least favorite part of the show was the downpour of rain in New York City—but other than some arguing over umbrella placement, that didn’t put a damper on the night.

“We managed to have so much fun while it was dumping rain for two-and-a-half or three hours, significant rain,” Cohen said.
No mention was given to comedian Whitney Cummings, whose conspiracy theory-filled roast of 2024 left the hosts alternating between shocked laughter and speechlessness. After her set, Cooper said that he “only understood, like, half the references” Cummings used.
Though Cooper did reveal in the interview that he did not look up any of the pop culture references he missed.
“The things I need to know I learned last night, and with the others, it’s fine that I’m oblivious,” he said.
After the broadcast, the pair said they closed out the night at Patti LuPone’s New Year’s party—despite Cooper saying on air that he wouldn’t attend.
“Frankly, I’m just on a high from how much fun we had,” Cohen said.
