MTG Makes Shock Announcement
After months of disagreeing with Trump, the Georgia congresswoman says she refuses to be “a battered wife.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed in a video posted to social media on Friday evening that she intends to resign from office.
In a surprising video statement, Greene said, “I have too much self-respect and dignity, love my family way too much, and do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will likely lose the midterms.”

“When the common American people finally realize and understand that the Political Industrial Complex of both parties is ripping this country apart… then I’ll be here by their side to rebuild it.”
“Until then,” she continued, ”I’m going back to the people I love, to live life to the fullest as I always have and look forward to a new path ahead.”
”I will be resigning from office with my last day being January 5, 2026.”
My message to Georgia’s 14th district and America.

The announcement came days after President Donald Trump reportedly issued a directive ordering his supporters to destroy Greene, who has repeatedly broken ranks with the GOP in recent months on issues including the release of the Epstein files and the government shutdown.

The president also publicly denounced the congresswoman, dubbing her Marjorie “Traitor” Brown, and explaining to his followers, that “green turns to brown where there is ROT involved” in a series of Truth Social posts.

Greene condemned the president’s rhetoric in a social media post of her own, writing, “I am now being contacted by private security firms with warnings for my safety as a hotbed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world. The man I supported and helped get elected.”

Prior to their falling out, Greene was a MAGA loyalist, something she noted in her statement on Friday.

“I have fought harder than almost any other elected Republican to elect Donald Trump and Republicans to power,“ she said.
”Meanwhile most of the Establishment Republicans, who secretly hate him and who stabbed him in the back and never defended him against anything, have all been welcomed in after the election.”
“I refuse to be a ‘battered wife’ hoping it all goes away and gets better,” Green continued. ”If I am cast aside by MAGA Inc. and replaced by Neocons, Big Pharma, Big Tech, Military Industrial War Complex, foreign leaders and the elite donor class that can’t even relate to real Americans, then many common Americans have been cast aside as well.”

Greene has long been a controversial figure in the GOP, and her outspokenness has ultimately led to her resignation.

Greene also once more broke ranks with QAnon conspiracy theorists in her statement, saying, “There is no ‘plan to save the world‘ or insane 4D chess game being played.”
Greene has previously expressed support for the beliefs espoused by the fringe group, but has since said that she was misled by “media lies and stuff you read on social media.”
Without naming him specifically, Greene condemned Trump’s approach to governance, which she has previously criticized for failing to put America first.

“America First should mean America First and only Americans First, with no other foreign countries ever being attached to America First in our halls of government,” she wrote.
Greene has previously called out what she considered the president’s preoccupation with solving foreign wars and supporting foreign governments, arguing that the GOP is now pursuing an “America Last” agenda.

She has also come out swinging against her own party for its role in the ongoing Epstein saga, aligning herself with survivors of Epstein’s crimes and pushing for the complete release of all files pertaining to the case.
Greene, 51, was elected to represent Georgia’s 14th district in 2020, winning re-election in both 2022 and 2024. MSNOW reporter Matt Fuller noted on X that Greene’s chosen resignation date is just two days after she qualifies for a congressional pension, for which members of Congress become eligible after five years of service.
