Trump Plots to Get His D.C. Hotel Back
As he prepares to move back into the White House, Donald Trump is looking to bring the former Trump Hotel International back into his property empire.

Donald Trump has his eye on the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Washington D.C. which operated under the Trump name until two-and-a-half years ago.
He wants to buy back the iconic building that he sold in 2022, according to a report.
“Our family has saved the hotel once. If asked, we would save it again,” Eric Trump told The New York Post.
Trump’s company, the Trump Organization, is “weighing options that include a licensing deal or even possibly buying back the lease on the government-owned, 125-year-old Old Post Office building,” says the Post.

A source told the publication that it was still “to be determined” which of the two options the Trump Organization wanted to pursue
Built in the Classical Revival style, the building has 263 rooms, 35 suites and a 6,300 square-foot, two-story townhouse with a private entrance. Room rates start at about $650 per night.
Trump first acquired the lease on the landmark site after a fierce bidding process. His company set about renovating the building, creating a 5-star hotel.

The building was formerly the Old Post Office. Today it is a beacon of luxury and elegance. It became a mecca for D.C. insiders and Republican officials during Trump’s first term in office.

The patriarch and his family took part in a grand opening and ribbon-cutting event for the hotel when they took it over in October 2016.
Trump sold the hotel for $375 million to a Miami investor group that reopened it as a Waldorf Astoria hotel, handing the Trump family business a healthy $100 million profit.
Located at 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, it sits between the White House and the Capitol building.
