Donald Trump Jr. told Fox News that he’s helping staff his father’s cabinet—which he aims to fill with people who “don’t think that they know better” than the president-elect.
“I’m going to be heavily involved on the transition,” Don Jr. said in a Thursday appearance on Fox & Friends. “I want to make sure now that we know who the real players are, the people who will actually deliver on the president’s message, the people who don’t think that they know better than the duly elected president of the United States.”
“I want to make sure that those people are in his Cabinet,” he added. “I want to make sure that those people are in this administration.”

Among the reported front-runners for Trump cabinet positions are a number of the once and future president’s highest-profile allies, including Elon Musk, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Marco Rubio.
His transition team, Trump’s camp has announced, will be led by Wall Street CEO Howard Lutnick and Linda McMahon, who co-founded the WWE and was for a time the head of the Small Business Administration during Trump’s first term. JD Vance, the incoming vice president, and Trump’s sons Eric and Don Jr. feature in largely honorary roles.

Don Jr., though, told Axios in July that he hopes to have “veto power” over the administration’s hiring decisions, so as to “block the bad actors.”
“I want to block the liars, I want to block the guys that are pretending they’re with you,” he said.
Lutnick, meanwhile, said in an October interview with The Financial Times that appointees will have to prove their “loyalty” to Trump.
In any case, Trump’s transition team won’t face resistance from the current administration.
“I assured him that I will direct my entire administration to work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition,” Joe Biden said in a speech on Thursday. “That’s what the American people deserve.”
