Charlie Kirk: L.A. Should Lose 2028 Olympics Over Wildfire Response

Many have criticized city officials after some fire hydrants in the city ran dry.

Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk thinks Los Angeles should lose its rights to the 2028 Olympic Games. The Turning Point USA founder said Friday the city should not host an event of such importance if it does not have the resources to put out the rash of wildfires that have ravaged the region this week. Kirk, who tagged along with Donald Trump Jr. on a trip to Greenland this week, conveniently suggested the games be moved to Miami or Dallas—cities in red states. “The Los Angeles Olympics should be cancelled,” he posted to X. “If you can’t fill a fire hydrant, you aren’t qualified to host the Olympics. Move them to Dallas, or Miami, so the world’s athletes can compete in a place capable of actually safely building and running something.” California officials have been criticized in recent days after many fire hydrants across Los Angeles ran out of water, much to firefighters’ frustration. Even President-elect Donald Trump weighed in on the crisis, hurling blame for the disaster at California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
