Maher Blasts TV Star Over ‘Disgusting’ Reason Why Trump Won
Maher called himself an “old-school liberal” who has pivoted from attacking the right to attacking the left’s “woke nonsense because that is a gold mine for comedy.”

Comedian Bill Maher turned his ire towards Democrats during an argument with actor Jon Cryer, who shared the “disgusting” reason he thinks Kamala Harris lost the presidential election.
While sitting down with the Two and a Half Men actor for the HBO host’s Club Random podcast, Maher gave his thoughts on why Donald Trump won.
“I warned everybody about Trump, and then I warned them that I warned them about what would get him reelected, which was stupid wokeness, which is what got him reelected,” Maher said.
Cryer responded that there were many factors in the election, including inflation, and “wokeness” was “maybe a part of it.” Maher conceded that inflation “certainly was part of it.”
“They hate inflation. They hate riots and they hate Black women. And they hate trans people,” Cryer continued.

Maher, who didn’t seem to like where the conversation had gone, said, ‘God, Jon, we’re not going to–’ before Cryer cut him off to add that Republicans had put “hundreds of millions of dollars” into “demonizing trans people and that’s disgusting.”

The pair then agreed to stop talking about politics. Maher, best known for his political talk show Real Time with Bill Maher, has recently directed more of his jokes towards Democrats.
In a recent profile with The Wall Street Journal, Maher called himself an “old-school liberal” who has pivoted from attacking the right to attacking the left’s “woke nonsense because that is a gold mine for comedy.”
“I’m a comedian. I’m going to go where the gold is,” he added.
Maher clarified that even though he’s been going after Democrats recently, it doesn’t mean that he’s going to be switching parties.
“Many Republicans say, ‘Maybe we could get Bill Maher.’ No, you can’t,” he said. “What you can get is Bill Maher being honest about the left. I’m not going to join your team that doesn’t believe in democracy.”
