There are only about 340 North Atlantic right whales left in the world.

Up to 70 North Atlantic right whales gathered off the coast of Massachusetts on Frida—representing about 20 percent of all those left in the world, according to Massachusetts Environmental Police. Only 340 or so of the endangered animals so the massing of them around Cape Cod Bay and Cape Cod Canal was significant. The bay remained open but local officials were on patrol to ensure maritime traffic could safely pass through the area, WCVB reports.
