Suspect Arrested in Florida Shooting

At least one person was killed and five more wounded after a shooting at an office building in Orlando, Florida. (All are in stable condition and one is believed to have suffered a heart attack.) Police have arrested Jason Rodriguez, 40, a former employee at Reynolds, Smith, and Hills engineering and architecture firm who was let go from his job in 2007. He was found at his mother's apartment—apparently, she is the one who tipped off cops to his location. The attack took place at 11 a.m. at 1000 Legion Place. As he was escorted into the police station, a reporter asked him why he did it. "Cause they left me to rot," he said.

If everyone in the office building had a gun then they would have been able to protect themselves....and of course the bigger your gun the better. Every American should have at least 2 guns...

They actually had a Dateline: "What if I had a Gun?". Turns out if you don't have years and years of training operating a weapon under a stressful situation (as they tend to provide to police officers) you end up freezing up or if you manage to pull your weapon you get tunnel vision and are horrible innaccurate and miss/shoot someone else in the room.

Jason Rodriguez is radical Muslim and an Obama supporter who volunterred to shoot up the office on Florida to distract the media away from Fort Hood.

This is an Obama plot to take the heat off the fact that Obama is an al Qaeda operative.

I work in downtown Orlando and it is crazy. They locked down our building and I can hear the helicopters over head. They caught Jason Rodriguez at his mother's house across town. They had shut down 10 miles worth of Interstate highway (I-4). and Jason Rodriguez isnt muslim, he is a disgruntled employee of the construction firm in that building. There are no innocent people in America.

Remember all those kids and even adults who stood around while that young person was beaten to death in Chicago? What if he had instead opened up with a semi automatic gun to protect himself.

Everyone would be screaming.

We have ALL been part of the greed and corruption and afraid to stand up for what is right that has allowed America to get to the horrible financial condition it is in . We allow thousands in each of our cities, and in some companies, to be laid off, left without unemployment, and lose their homes, cars, bank accounts, pensions.

We ALL are guilty.

We continue to elect idiots.

WE, ALL continue to not bother to go find out who is running and what they stand for, and make sound choices.

Republicans won these two last elections the last couple of days because all those registered to vote for Obama did not bother to go out and vote in this election. Look at the numbers and compare them to the Presidential election. In our city, the last election had less than one in ten voters from the Presidential election bothering to vote, yet they all will be bitching when our city continues down the primrose path and nothing changes.

It is easy to say things like get medieval, but isn't that exactly what these killers have done?

jst4horsees - You are so right. But how do we get past having such horrible choices? Every time I vote, I feel like it's a choice of Dumb vs. Dumber. It is very discouraging. I would like to hope most of us would like to make better choices, but are just not sure how or where to make it happen.

..another horrendus SAD day in America.. nothing but BITTER hateful.. racist..GODLESS..COWARD>driven PPL walking the streets of this nation on the increase ..and let's not forget registered SEX offenders who daily are out to molest and EVEN kill innocent children and toss their bodies like trash.. where the majority of them live in Texas, Florida, California and Vermont>who are the softest on sex offenders.

..this nation is SICK..needs HELP..and we need too realize what is actually happening in the MINDS of this nation's citizens.. we have countless military troops returning home from BOTH WARS with PTSD..that in itshelf is VERY dangerous..and we need to get a hand on this.. like yesterday..if they have been diagnosed with PTSD.. they should NOT be registered to handle a fire-arm period..EVER..

We as nation.. can not keep going at the pace we have for over two decades.. the economy, the recession..10% unemployment....TWO WARS WE DON'T NEED to be in at the stage we are..

America is so off track for so many different reasons ..and not just off track recently as so many want to pretend and believe ..but for quite sometime now..and so there's plenty blame to go around..WHICH IS NOT THE POINT..until we realize this.. we shall not get better as a nation..unfortunately it took 9/11 for americans and nationals to come together and lift this nation UP in SPIRIT as ONE NATION.under GOD..how soon we forget until the 9/11 anniversary comes around..

People are hurting..their dreams have been destroyed..and have no clue what to do next.. but jump-off and KILL the people who they feel are responsible for destroying their dream(s).. in some cases killing the innocent as well..

We as a nation need to STOP seeking power for gain by any means necessary.. we are fearful..fearmongering nation.. and if we are a nation under GOD.. we should NOT act as though or cater to fear-mongering about everything UNDER the sun..we are a nation that needs to get back on our KNEES..bring PRAYER back into the public school as a CHOICE for students to participate.. we as a nation are losing or LOSS our favour collectively with GOD so it seems..therefore, as a nation and as an individuals who ARE CHRISTIANS..need to STEP it up and not be shy about who we are.. and WHO'S WE ARE..and simply talk about the ways of the judea/christian GOD.. personnally re-establish our FAITH as a nation..and NOT in terms of the RELIGIOUS RIGHT POLITICAL MACHINE GROUPS..

The most segragated day of the week is Sunday..when those who go to your Church..your Temple or Hall.. and when you are there.. look around your congregation.. its a political correct enviroment and congregation RIGHT?..need I say more?.. ..

Granted, there are some disturbed people as citizens and nationals residing in this nation..and there are those who want to KILL americans.. as unjustified or justified by popular opinion.. GOD knows we as a nation have invaded and killed in other nations justified or unjustified, again by popular opinion.. the bottom line.. we have to FIND a better way to resolve and HELP hurting people--citizens of this nation..from the board rooms to the inner city hoods..ITS ALL the SAME> violence is violence and has no respects of person..PEOPLE are HURTING IN THIS NATION..north-south-east-west.. rich or poor..educated or not..we are ALL the same in regard to the sake of humanity in God's eyes..that's the bottom line in reality on main-street..wall street.. you street where you reside..HELP SOMEONE WHO NEEDS HELP..how you do it..I can't say ..just do it.. this is the only way on a grass-roots level.. america is going to get better ..this is my belief..

Sorry Guys..I just had to vent a little..(geesh)

My heart aches by the recent violence taken place in Ft Hood and Orlando..I have a relative stationed at FT Hood..and another relative employed in the Orlando-building shooting..

..may God have MERCY on the United States..

That is probably exactly what the take over mentality people want, is for Americans to give up their Constitutional Rights to keep and bear arms.

Since birth, sixty years ago, I have known people who own and keep guns. I have never NOT ONCE, heard of any of the people I know having a shot child, an accidental shooting, or even being shot with their own gun.

However, I have known people who have protected their homes and families from criminals.

I am not a big gun lobbyist supporter, but I do believe that a person has the right to keep and bear arms and to protect themselves with deadly force if threatened with deadly force.

In cases of what actually are horrible, but few, persons who abuse this right, the proper action is to provide better services to those who lose their jobs, and for all of us to remind ourselves that the person we turn our backs on today, may have semi automatic weapons and be the person who shoots us in the back two years from now.

Is it right?

Absolutely not, but often reality is not what we would like it to be.

If we are not nice enough to call an fellow worker let go and say, how are you, need some help, how about lunch, or bring them a bag of food, good things, not old stuff we cleaned out the closet, then one day..........

we may be at work on the day that person decides to get even.

So, we better be smart enough to make sure people are taken care of properly and better mental health support is available to people.

We ALL might start by lobbying for laws that stop the debt collectors, foreclosures, and other problems caused by the bankers that are bitching because their immoral bonus checks might get cut in half.

If we said "six months of financial disaster" and no collections, no foreclosures, and every single account that could pay $25 would keep cars used for work from being repossessed, the amounts going on the back of the loans, it would be amazing in helping people get back on their feet.

Yes, Americans have the right to bear arms, but there needs to be regulations regarding this right.

Keep your guns. We should just take away your ammunition and have a very complete paper trail for every gun and every gun part you buy.

The government should let people buy guns, but there should be a 500% tax on guns and all gun owners should have an ATF issued, annually renewed gun permit costing $15,000 per year. It will bring down the deficit.

Yes, because the worst thing in the world would be for people to recognize that each person must be responsible for his or her own personal safety. Telling the lie that someone else can get to you fast enough to save you is much better.

Opium, anyone?

How progressive an idea is that! If we did things that way, only super-rich corporations could afford weapons and permits. . .to arm private armies in their Mergers and Acquisitions Departments, and golly, won't the black market just be thrilled at the chance to help their clients find a work around for those dang-blasted ATF permit fees and ammo taxes, seeing how murderers aren't really sticklers for red tape.

I really hope you're joking.

It is absolutely unbelievable some of the thought processes on this site. Are you capable of having respect, self or otherwise? This man felt like he had no hope, as in the 1930's. Unfortunately he had access to a firearm. I wonder if this scerario would have been the same during the Great Depression. Stop blaming Pres. Obama for your problems. FDR had folks living in tents, making 1$ a day for the CCC.(look it up) people got their dignity back, but how many of you would really be able to "sacrifice" if you could. It is easier to blame others!
